On site, the ECHOS staff provides clients with
- Application assistance; helping clients complete applications for access to health and social services provided by the Harris County Hospital District, the State of Texas Medicaid programs and CHIPS.
- Along with volunteers, they do vision screenings that lead to referrals for examinations and prescription eyeglasses.
- And they refer clients to appropriate service providers — both on campus and in our community. These include referrals for free pregnancy tests and prenatal care, to the office of the Attorney General for child support issues, for mental health services and career/job resources.
On site, Community Service Providers provide clients with
- Medical screenings for hypertension, diabetes, HIV, STD, Syphilis and TB, as well as screening mammograms and dental screenings. Those clients who have problems are referred for appropriate treatment whenever possible.
- Domestic violence counseling and support
- Immunizations for children
- Emergency formula and food for infants (birth through 12 months)
- Education about female reproductive health
- Health education classes
- ESL classes
- GED classes
